Chartered Financial Analyst, MA (Natural Sciences)

Hazel’s career has been nothing if not varied. With over 25 years’ experience advising on corporate finance matters, she’s worked with technology companies and investors, great and small. From acquisitions to exits, IPOs to MBOs, Hazel’s expertise means that in addition to her day job she’s served on boards and advisory panels and is a regular speaker at conferences across Europe and the USA.
Hazel was awarded an OBE in the 2017 New Years’ Honours list for services to entrepreneurship and innovation. In 2016 she won the CBI/Real Business First Women in Finance award, and in 2015 she won Best Woman Corporate Finance Adviser in the Women In Private Equity Awards.
Following an MA in Natural Sciences at Cambridge University, Hazel worked for GEC Marconi as an engineer. Then, looking for a new challenge, she moved into the financial industry and became a Chartered Financial Analyst. She spent several years as a tech analyst in Asia, heading up the equity research team for Hong Kong for WI Carr, an institutional stockbroker, and as an angel investor in tech companies, which was the pre-cursor to setting up FirstCapital.
Outside the office
Whether skiing or hiking, Hazel loves to explore the great outdoors. She is a former national karate champion, and still trains regularly.

Jason has had an impressive career spanning more than 20 years. He is an accomplished and experienced investment banker, with a successful track record of advising on transactions in Europe, US and Asia and delivering exceptional value to clients both buy side and sell side.
Jason was instrumental in setting up investment banking operations in India and Pakistan during the 1990’s; and has since worked on a wide range of deals including mergers, acquisitions, exits, MBOs, fundraisings and IPOs.
Jason is a Chartered Financial Analyst and has a BA and MA in Management Studies and Physics from Cambridge University. Prior to founding FirstCapital, Jason was a number 1 ranked equity analyst with Smith New Court based in Hong Kong and went on to become Director of Union Bank of Switzerland (UBS) where he worked in international capital markets.
Outside the office
Jason enjoys watching and playing all sport but he is particularly keen on skiing and is a black belt in karate.

As MD Piers has helped FirstCapital become the leading adviser for mid-market technology deals.
Piers has enjoyed a productive career at the likes of Citicorp, UBS and Bear Stearns. He has had the opportunity to work on a multitude of market leading and innovative transactions in multiple markets and regions.
With over $100bn worth of investment banking transactions spanning a diversity of products Piers is a true asset to the team, partners and clients alike.
Outside the office:
Piers finds cycling long distances a great way to unwind.

As COO Peter is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the business including systems, finance and regulatory.
Peter was a founding director of FNI Venture Capital, a European family office fund. Prior to that he held various management, strategic marketing, sales and technical roles at IBM, venture funded Incases Engineering and the Lockheed Corporation.
Peter developed his entrepreneurial skills as founder and MD of Hybrid Technology, a Cambridge-based computer technology company.
Outside the office:
Peter is a dedicated cyclist. He takes an interest in human rights, middle eastern ancient history and is learning to play the piano.

David has had a varied and successful career holding strategic board level roles within USA tech companies expanding to Europe/EMEA, Asia, LATAM and tech companies entering and expanding into the USA/Canada.
As SVP with Enterprise Ireland in Silicon Valley David supported over 120 Irish companies in their USA market activities leading to multi-million dollar sales, venture funding and IP licensing deals.
As VP Global Sales for TMF Group he helped companies expand internationally and fast.
David is a guest speaker at Stanford, USF, UCD, UL, MBA World Trophy on topics such as entrepreneurship, startups, internationalization; government supports and networking.

David enjoys running (10K to half marathons), playing Nerf with my kids, camping (the Californian weather helps!).
