Jason Purcell rides Raid Local in aid of Cure Parkinson’s Trust

25th June 2020

On Sunday 28th June FirstCapital CEO Jason Purcell will be joining celebrities such as Mike Tindall, Iain Balshaw, Sir Chris Hoy, Lee Westwood, Amy Williams, Kirsty Gallacher, Shane Williams, Austin Healey and others on the Raid Local in aid of the Cure Parkinson’s Trust.

Jason was due to be cycling the epic Raid Alpine for CPT starting on June 28th. This 6 day cycling challenge goes from Geneva to Nice, covering 800km and 19000m of vertical. Unfortunately it had to be cancelled due to Covid-19, along with a huge percentage of other fundraising initiatives for CPT. The resulting lack of income this year imperils CPT’s incredibly important work to find treatments that can slow, stop or reverse Parkinson’s.

Raid Alpine has become Raid Local, where everyone and anyone can join in. Riders can join either on roads local to them, or on one (or all) of three virtual courses that have been set up specifically for CPT by Zwift. Jason will be cycling all three stages, which totals 137km and 3,700m of vertical, equivalent to the first day of the Raid Alpine. For more details on how to join in, or to support Raid Local, see here: https://www.cureparkinsons.org.uk/news/join-raid-local

Jason, who has been training in his shed during the Covid-19 lockdown, is a long time supporter of CPT which was founded by close friend Tom Isaacs, a visionary pioneer and Parkinson’s sufferer who died in 2017. Closer to home, his grandmother also suffered from this cruel and currently incurable disease. Please do support him in his ride.
