Myvideorights (MVR) is the UK’s leading independent digital rights management company. MVR enables video content owners to manage their rights and monetise their content online, by exclusively signing up owners of professional premium video content, and selling advertising inventory. Advertisers find this inventory highly attractive as a safe, legal, well lit environment in which to promote their products.

The company was founded by Ashley MacKenzie, CEO and is supported by a board of extremely well connected senior media executives including Kelvin MacKenzie, former Editor of the Sun, Peter Bazalgette, former Chief Creative Officer of Endemol and current Non–Executive Chairman of Sony Music TV, Rupert Dillnot-Cooper, former CEO of Carlton Media International and Patrick Walker, Director of Media Partnerships at Youtube/Google. MVR leverages these connections to establish key content relationships.

FirstCapital was selected to advise the company on a financing round to allow MVR to take the business internationally. The company sought funds to build out the ad sales team, roll out to other European markets and scale the infrastructure. We focused initially on articulating the positioning of the company, as the solution to a tough bottleneck in the online advertising market. We helped to refine the business strategy, and the international roll out plans.

In the marketing process, we targeted those investors with an understanding of the potential disruption that MVR was bringing to the online video advertising marketplace. We attracted investment from MMC Ventures.
