Nanotechnology is one of the major unexplored frontiers of science. As a result, many of the new principles of operation which come into play in the nano world are not yet fully understood, or can be measured or replicated, and these hurdles need to be overcome before nanotechnology can be fully exploited. However, very rapid progress has been made in the last decade or so with the availability of tools. Now, with the substantial proposed increases in funding worldwide, progress is expected to continue to accelerate.
