London, 21 October 2008FirstCapital, the London-based technology investment bank, today announced the appointment of Richard Atkins to its Advisory Board. Richard brings a very strong track record of delivering growth and profitability in the IT and support services industry and has extensive experience at board level in both public and private technology companies, including most recently as a non executive director of Message Labs, sold to Symantec for $695mn. Richard was with IBM from 1996 to 2005, where he held a number of senior positions in marketing, strategy and general management. His most recent position was General Manager, IBM Global Services Northern Europe, and he was both a member of the IBM Global Services European Operations Team and a member of the IBM worldwide Senior Leadership Team. Earlier in his career Richard, as Finance Director, led the MBO of Data Sciences Limited from Thorn EMI plc in 1991 before managing its sale to IBM in1996. Richard is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (FCA), qualifying with Ernst & Young. He is Chairman of 7 City Learning Ltd and is non-executive director at Global Crossing UK.
